COP26
Let’s tackle climate change together

The COP26 Summit is a big deal for us. Taking place 1-12 November 2021 in Glasgow, just 80 miles from Dundee, it is a moment in time where the world’s attention will be looking in our direction.

This gives us the opportunity to raise awareness of MSIP and the incredible expertise and skills that exist in Scotland, that will be crucial to tackling climate change.

We want to shine a light on the role we are playing in achieving the 2045 net zero targets that have been set in Scotland.

Our ambition is to be a global reference for sustainable mobility and decarbonisation, to contribute towards a net zero future. In the lead up to the COP26 Summit, we have an exciting programme of activity lined up to help deliver that ambition.

Our Net Zero Plan

We are actively reducing the carbon impact of industrial processes and premises at MSIP.

Our team will each undergo Climate Solutions training this year, to gain a significant understanding of climate change, prepare for the net zero transformation and understand what our role is in addressing that.

MSIP has signed up to the Race To Zero, a global campaign to rally leadership and support for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery that prevents future threats, creates jobs, and unlocks inclusive, sustainable growth.

Later this year we will launch our Net Zero Plan, putting our staff training and Race To Zero pledge into practice, to clearly articulate what we will do and when we will do it by.

MSIP Demonstrator and Showcase Event

On 11 and 12 November we will bring together key members of industry, academia and government to deliver our own COP26 fringe event at MSIP.

This event will deliver demonstrations and a showcase of the latest technology in development, within the sustainable mobility sector in Scotland. It will be complimented by other relevant activity including topical panel sessions and challenge workshops. It will also offer networking opportunities, as well as some fun activities to try out.

If this is something you would like to be a part of, get in touch now to find out more at info@msipdundee.com.

Community Engagement

The COP26 Summit will bring lots of opportunities and ideas to industry, academia and governments, to showcase net zero ambitions. But we want to ensure that those opportunities reach our local community as well.

That is why we will deliver key projects in Dundee with young people, to share educational information about climate change and what actions everyone can take to tackle it, in fun, interactive, and inclusive ways.

We also think it is important to raise awareness with local young people on what future jobs might look like, and the career opportunities we envision will exist at MSIP. The COP26 Summit is a great way to start that conversation through our Skills Academy.

If you work in a local school and want to find out more, please get in touch at info@msipdundee.com.

Electric Vehicle Rally of Scotland (EVROS)

The EVROS is a ‘demonstration’ of Scottish electric vehicle charging infrastructure, combined with clean and innovative vehicle technology.

We are excited to be a Platinum Partner of the EVROS, alongside Swarco, as Charing and Innovation Specialists.

The EVROS will put 12+ EVs on the road during the COP26 Summit, and set them off on a 5-day, 1234 mile ‘e-Tour of Scotland’. The fleet will arrive in Dundee on day 5 of the rally, with a stop-over event at MSIP and Swarco’s premises.

By the end of the week, the ‘eRally’ will have visited every corner of Scotland, including MSIP!

Legacy

We want to ensure that our programme for 2021, celebrating the spotlight that the COP26 Summit will put on climate change, highlights many more opportunities for the future.

Our programme of activity will be the starting point, kick starting a range of subsequent projects and events that will continue into the future, to demonstrate our role in tackling climate change.

Everything that we deliver in 2021 will build a legacy at MSIP, that will acknowledge the collective accomplishments of the COP26 Summit and look ahead to future COP Summits and beyond….

The COP27 Summit will be here before we know it!

“MSIP is driving innovation in sustainable and low carbon technologies which will not only help create jobs and prosperity, but also play a part in addressing the global climate emergency.”
John Alexander, Leader of Dundee City Council
A proud partnership
